TILED ROOF SPECIALISTS

A new tiled roof in 24 steps

From your first wishes to inspection, material choices, construction, handover and aftercare: know what happens at each stage.

01

Collect your wishes

Describe the reason for the work, known leaks, desired appearance and future loft use. Gather photos and earlier roof information.

02

Discuss the home and project

Confirm the building type, roof areas, access and preferred period. Identify who decides and who can provide access.

03

Inspect inside and outside

Assess accessible tiles, ridges, gutters, flashings, timber and insulation. Record visible defects and any concealed areas that need further investigation.

04

Measure and assess the structure

Measure pitch, roof areas and junctions. Establish whether changing tiles, windows, insulation or solar panels requires structural assessment.

05

Check permits, heritage and nature

Check the address-specific requirements through the official Dutch channels. Assign responsibility for any research, permissions and effects on timing.

06

Compare repair, reuse and renewal

Review feasible alternatives, the defects each option addresses and the parts that remain. Agree priorities for appearance, comfort, maintenance and budget.

07

Choose tiles, colour and accessories

Compare suitable models and physical samples. Record exact product codes, finish, ridge pieces and other compatible accessories.

08

Design insulation and moisture control

Assess existing and new layers together. Specify insulation, vapour control, airtightness and junctions, keeping roof ventilation separate from room ventilation.

09

Coordinate windows and installations

Plan flashings, gutters, roof windows and solar panels together. Identify who handles electrical work, internal finishing and shared details.

10

Agree the quote and warranties

Record scope, quantities, price items, exclusions, payment and variations. Keep product warranties separate from our 10-year workmanship warranty.

11

Order and check materials

Confirm models, colours, quantities and delivery. Any substitutions need assessment and agreement before installation.

12

Prepare residents and neighbours

Explain work times, noise, dust, access and phasing. Protect belongings and agree a contact route for questions.

13

Prepare access and the work area

Arrange scaffolding, storage, lifting and waste removal. Keep agreed entrances and public routes protected and usable.

14

Confirm the start and weather plan

Agree when the start is confirmed, how delays are communicated and how opened roof sections remain protected.

15

Remove existing roof components

Open the roof in planned sections. Separate tiles for reuse and dispose of other materials through the agreed route.

16

Assess concealed damage

Record defects revealed after opening. Explain the effect on scope and cost and agree additional repair before proceeding.

17

Repair structure and fit insulation

Complete agreed timber and decking work, then install the specified insulation and connections. Document layers that will become concealed.

18

Install underlay and battens

Connect the drainage layer at eaves and penetrations. Fit counter-battens and tile battens to the specified layout and fixings.

19

Lay tiles and finish junctions

Install the selected covering, ridges, hips and flashings. Check fastening and water flow at all relevant transitions.

20

Complete installations and finishing

Coordinate window finishing, solar refitting and other agreed work. Keep checks and responsibilities clear between the trades.

21

Inspect and hand over together

Check visible finish, drainage and the agreed scope. Record outstanding points with responsibility and a completion date.

22

Receive the roof file

Collect product specifications, photos, instructions, invoices and written warranties, including the project terms for our 10-year warranty.

23

Close outstanding points

Confirm that recorded items are resolved and complete the administration. Retain the final agreed documents together.

24

Plan maintenance and aftercare

Agree suitable inspections and upkeep for your roof. Record whom to contact about a defect and keep maintenance findings in the roof file.
